The Youth Day Center (YDC) and Reflections North Programs would like to invite you to our first annual fundraiser, “A Kick 4 a Cure” kickball game and barbecue to benefit Collaboration4Cure (C4C) and Alzheimer’s San Diego. We are a school and program that assists students and their families regarding behavior, substance abuse, parenting, education, socialization, and therapy. These programs are designed to provide treatment and strategies for success to youth of the Juvenile Court by reducing delinquent behaviors while allowing the student to remain within the community.
June 21st is symbolic for those who are affected in some way with Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s is a disease that robs the brain of its functions, as well as robs the person of their: memories, body movements, self-care; and bodily functions, which may lead to their passing. In order to combat this disease, it is suggested a person be active and learn new activities.
Students and community leaders will play a game of kickball to raise funds for this cause. All money raised from the event will go to Alzheimer's San Diego and C4C. Alzheimer’s San Diego is a local and independent nonprofit organization with deep roots in the community helping families impacted by dementia. They provide a wide range of innovative programs and services – all of which are free! C4C unites local government, research institutions and philanthropists around a single goal; finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. By combining the resources of Alzheimer’s San Diego, the City and County of San Diego and several world-renowned researchers, C4C is accelerating the tremendous work being done locally to discover an effective treatment or cure.
Join us on June 21st from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Mission Sports Complex in San Marcos: 931 Bailey Court. A hamburger or hot dog lunch will be available for a $7.00 donation. Our students have created t-shirts, flyers, and strategies in order to raise money for this important cause. As one student asked, “Is it old timers or Alzheimer’s?” No matter how you pronounce it, No Life Should Be Erased.
